Top of mast.Main Sail stuck

Now it sounds like you need to lube the sail track. You do have a sail track, yes?

I wonder it there is a slight dent in the track near the top that is causing the sail glide to stick? Can you take your mast down and inspect it? PITA, I know, but you might have to do this anyway.

I used to experience a lot of friction/drag hoisting and lowering the main sail, to the point where the winch would hardly do it. I started cleaning and waxing the mast each time it was down, especially waxing the slug track and polishing it. Now sails go up by hand, no winch needed, and fall back down easily when lowering.

I use some leftover automotive at the moment but thinking about switching to marine as it lasts a little longer so I hear

Plus I suspect cleaning and waxing would reduce wear/tear on sheaves and protect the anodized mast too
