What tool do you use most on your boat? Is it as simple as your Phillips screw driver, or as complex as your Swiss Army knife? If you had to set sail with only one tool on board, which one would it be? Fix your comments here then vote in this week's Quick Quiz at the bottom of the home page.

Beer opener.

It's gotta be a beer opener. I nice cold bottle of Pacifico on a hot day. You can just sit there and contemplate the next job that you are going to put off because you DO NOT have the tools for that job. And then you open another and rethink the situation............................

Credit Card

If you don't have the correct tool, you can buy one. Can't find the tool, you can hire someone. Can't pay the bill, you can sail away and forget all about the real world. Regards. Bruce.

Leatherman

Perfect tool if it had a wrist strap. Sence it don't, get 2.

Swiss Army Knife

The Swiss Amry knife, the "Swiss Champ", has pliers, tweezers, magnifying glass, and the requisite corkscrew. Hey, it also has a baling hook, scissors, even a tiny ballpoint pen... Not a bad investment.

Swiss Army Knife & Leatherman

A locking blade Swiss Army Knife and a Leatherman tool cover 90% of the emergency repair work required on my boat. The Swiss Army Knife has the required cork screw. Beer cans as they are harder to break than glass bottles. By the way, haven't they inveted twist-top beer bottles down there? s/v Miss Brandy

Ear plugs

They stop the sound of the wife asking.."why can't we anchor closer to the beach?" or "do really really need to spend that much on the boat?" and "do you love this boat more than you do me?"

PAPER: It ain't pretty but it rhymes (kin a)

THE PERFECT TOOL A Knife with a point can cut off a joint. A Hammer with a swing can put in a ding. A Wrench with a jolt can tighten a bolt. A crowbar by far leads with a mar. Plastic you say now leads the way? I don't quite agree as you can all see. I beg to differ with something that’s quicker. Ahoy for the joy when there is a problem with your toy. When you’re stuck in the muck, With a mess I confess. I know the jewel that makes them all drool. What never fails to put wind in their sales? The most perfect tool for any old fool, The tool that the best in every old quest, Is one that is keen in the chandlers’ machine? If ignore the fact that this ditty ain't pretty, I'll answer you question with a little discretion, When my raft is all-broke or I just need a smoke, Its CASH that the tool for this gray ole fool.

Right on, Justin

Leatherman is probably the most used although I prefer a regular screwdriver on big jobs. And the Dremel just can't be beat. I burned one out working on my boat! Luckily it was within the first 6 months so they just sent me a brand new one. That certainly says something about their customer service! LaDonna

Leatherman -from the dayI bought my first boat

The leatherman has always been the tool for me. Although I do carry a full tool box, the leatherman has saved me MANY trips below to fetch certain tools. Plus with it on my belt, minor repairs get fixed immediately.
