Took on water.. what do I worry about?

2 years ago my Catalina 30 took on water. It seems the bad yacht yard it had been at didn't really stuff the stuffing box. The excellent yacht yard that hauled it out and pickled the engine etc... got it running this past year but we were not able to put in the water due to finances. Assuming the yard has the engine running again this spring- what do I worry about after having had it take on water?

Most of the vulnerable areas are electrical but particularly the wiring harness between the engine and engine panel. Many, if not all, of the C30 fleet have 3 multiple pin plugs in the harness, one at the engine, one at the cockpit panel and here's the kicker, one beneath the sole to port and a little aft of the stuffing box access hole. Corrosion of these plugs spells trouble.

You didn't say what engine you have. If it's a diesel, problems with any of these plugs could affect glow plug, starter and instrument operation. If it's an Atomic 4 gas, you could have starting and instrument problems too but the engine could unexpectedly flame out as well (loss of ignition power).

Thanks for the response. I have the diesal/Universal. The wiring harness had randomly gone up in flames about 5-6 years ago so it was newish- I will make sure we look at it or even replace it before we do the cruise from Chicago to Mackinac at the end of June.
