Tongue Weight

Does anyone have any idea what the typical tongue weight is on your C-22? Does is exceed 300lbs? I'm considering using a hitch that's rated at 3500lbs total trailer weight and 300 lbs tongue weight. I don't think the C-22 exceeds 3500lbs. Thank you.Jerry

Figure about 200 lbs.

You will want to be more towards 5% tongue weight rather than 10%. For the C22 rig, your boat/trailer will weight around 3300 lbs.My tongue was initially at 280 lbs. and I reduced it to around 200 lbs. When you launch and extend the tongue, you will want to reduce the tongue weight to about 100 lbs. Usually, this can be done by mounting the rudder, motor, etc.Regards,Ted

Tongue weight 220 pounds

Jerry:With all the bits & pieces in place for towing, (OB & rudder in cockpit) my hitch weight is 220 pounds.I tow with a 1993 Grand Marquis & factory towing package (air suspension on rear) & it works well. No swaying when passing the 18 wheelers as with a travel trailer.Regards, Bob B.
