If anyone's interested in the dimensions of the storage cabinet for the 240 that Tom Adams posted in the archives, I'll be glad to give 'em to ya- unless he's vehemently opposed to it. Just built mine and it looks- and works- great!

Yes, I Want Them

I have long admired that cabinet and want to add one to my 240. Could you either post the dimensions or email them to me? Many thanks.

The dimensions

The cabinet is 16" high, 16" wide and 19" deep. Those dimensions are pretty crucial. The top rail is available from Home Depot and only covers the front of the cabinet and the side facing the sink. Do not put railing on the other two sides. After mounting the railing, cut about 3/4" to 1" off the top- most rail of the railing so the cabinet will fit snug against the cabin bulkheads (looks custom). Frame the front of the cabin with 1 1/2" moulding and the door is 15" X 15". If you're gifted with wood, you can make a nice door, I'm sure; but I went to the kitchen cabinet area of Home Depot and bought 15" vanity doors. They have a variety of patterns to choose from and come in either wood grain or white. The only downside is you have to buy two doors, but the price of $26.00 for both is pretty reasonable. I put adjustable brackets inside so I could change the shelf height up or down- which added about 10 bucks to the price. At the time, I was hoping to squeeze two shelves inside; but it didn't seem to work out. Looks great with one, though. I'm still working on the shelf that accompanies it. Many thanks to Tom for his great idea.

THANKS MARK! COOL!

Thanks Mark for posting the measurements. I sort of feel bad that I did not post them. Of course, being from the north country, my boat is still covered in snow with the tarp on it. Congrates on the cabinet. I would like to see a picture of it posted on the Foto Forum! Way to Go!

You're welcome

You're welcome, Tom. And, again, thanks for the great idea. I will take some snaps. Also, if you don't mind, I want to put pictures and directions to this on my website. My hope is to gather people with great ideas and improvements into one place. Not to replace this forum but to supplement it.
