???

I am not sure what you are asking. The wax ring was used in conjunction with a sturdy round container to seal the area of the transducer to do in the water replacement.

I think he 's talking about...

Someone mentioned you can stick the depthsounder to the inside of the hull with the wax so you can move it around to find the best placement. Tim

Replacement or new location??

If you are just replacing it the old location should be OK. If you are moving to a new location and wishing to find out before you go to a lot of work that the location is suitable then you can use anything that provides a uniform connection between the puck and the hull. A zip lock bag of water works too. All you have to insure is that there are no gaps between the parts and no air spaces in the path of the transducer output/receiver. Air pockets in the hull are not that common but a sandwich hull is by definition an air gap. Not to many hulls have sandwich construction below the water line however.

Works great

Used it for a depth transducer on my 23.5 for over a year now. It stays put, but will be easy to remove if I ever need to.

The wax from a wax ring can be used to set a shoot through the hull

transducer. I did this years ago on another boat to determine if the location was good for shooting through the hull. It was and it stayed in the wax ring for the time I owned the boat. r.w.landau

I didn't have much luck with the wax ring

I tried it with a garmin fishfinder and I couldn't get it to work anywhere, then it was difficult to get the wax residue off the transducer. I tried using a zip loc bag with water and that kind of worked, but not well. I ended up having to mount the transducer off of my outboard bracket. Manny
