Anybody ever refinished and painted a toilet seat? The price of a new one is about $60.00. I would rather take it off , sand and repaint. Anybody have any experience with that?
As always I deeply appreciate any information provided.

Thanks,

Sometimes standard home ones will fit. Also investigate RV stores.

IIRC, there is a "Hospital-grade" paint, for germ repelency . It was an enamal I believe.

In my head, the seat was fine but the hinge broke. I bought a $13 seat at Home Depot that had the correct spacing for the hinge but the wrong size seat. A quick hinge replacement and I was a happy boater.

Regarding "household size" vs "compact size" toilet; Most boats can install a standard household size toilet in the same place that the boat builder installed the "compact size". If you compare the dimensions of the typical Jabsco compact to the Jabsco household size you will notice that all dimensions are just slightly larger. Next time you are considering replacing your compact pump assembly, instead replace the whole toilet with a "household size." You will be much more comfortable.

If you have the marine size you can replace for less than $20 US.

Bemis Marine toilet seat, model TC05TTA 000,
An easy search will bring up options.

Or, you can just replace the bowl...maybe even for free. When boat yards and dealers "upgrade" toilets, they often pull out brand new ones and almost always just scrap 'em. When I still owned a business, every fall or winter my local yard would let me take 2 or 3 bowls to have on hand in the spring to be able to provide cheap replacements for people who'd discovered that just pouring antifreeze into the bowl and flushing it didn't protect the bowl. Even if I was 100% sure a bowl was brand new, I still power washed it and rinsed with a strong bleach solution.

Any bowl that mounts using a 4 bolt pattern will fit any toilet that does, which is 99% of toilets.

Just a idea...

$60.00 is less than half of what I'd charge for an hour of my time repairing something on someone's boat. What's your time worth?

Thanks to all of you for your sage advice. I will take some measurements, and weigh options. Again, thanks!
