A couple weeks ago I started a thread about my Tohatsu 8 hr. loosing thrust. The suggestion was to first check the prop "shear pin". This Tohatsu does not have a shear pin. Instead it has a rubber sleeve that is bonded between the prop hub and a brass drive collar that slides onto the drive shaft. There was enough rubber to give me some friction and some thrust but when I increased speed the rubber gave out stopping any thrust. Taking it apart it now makes sense. The prop can be fixed but it would have to go back to the factory to have the rubber bonded / molded back in. I found a Tohatsu dealer who said that could do that but the parts would cost $50 plus shipping and some time (weeks / months) to turn it around. They did have on the shelf though two props for $67 each. So I bought them both, one to run with and a back up when cruising. I want to thank the group here for their input and encouragement. Walt
