Tohatsu 9.8 Electric start battery

So I bought a new Tohatsu 9.8 4 stroke with electric start and it does not come with the battery. The suggested battery from the owners manual is:
12V 40Ah/5Hr 350 CCA. I went to a local auto store to ask about their motorcycle batteries and I gave them the number of the recommended battery and they looked at me like I had a 3rd eye. They had never heard of the 40Ah description. So the guy looked on the internet and according to him it suggest "This battery" (pointing to it. It was nearly the size of one of my house batteries. I said sorry, no way and I putting that in my dink. So my question to you all that have electric start outboards, what battery do you use?

Walmart has lots of lawn tractor batteries and you should find one that will work fine. I use a tractor battery in my dinghy. Chief

Are they generally smaller that a motorcycle battery?

They assume that you will use the battery to power accessories on your boat. If all you are trying to do is start a 10hp dink outboard you can do that with an 18Ah generator battery. This is a wet application, suggest you go with sealed battery (AGM or Gel)

Usually bigger than a m/c battery but Gunni is telling you that it does not take much of a battery if all you use it for is to start the motor. Walmart has some for $20. I use my lawn tractor battery to run a small electric trolling motor as well. Chief

Yep it's just to start and then the motor charges it

Yep. This store was convenient right across from the barber. I'll check sears out and Walmart.
