I have a 1984 Hunter 31. What is the toggle switch near the starter switch for? Is it a gauge test switch?

Panel Light Switch

Not sure on your 31, but on my 1983 h34, the toggle switch turns on a panel light, so that you can read the guages after dark. The bulb isn't very bright, so it is almost impossible to tell if it is "lit" in the daylight. Try it after dark.

JimI own a 1990 32 vision, and my toggle switch also lights up my engine gauges. Took me about a year to figure out I did not need a flashlight at night to see my RPMs.
