I recently purchaced a 1987 C30 tall rig and had a problem with my quadrant cover delaminating. I have since repaired the cover and would like to know if this cover is to be sealed or not.
Hi Dan: Are you talking about the cover over the rudder post, just aft of the steering pedestal? If you are, the one on my 1996 C30 is not sealed and and the area below it has a drain tube running out the transom.I hope this helps.Fair winds;Dave S/V Westwind
I would not seal the cover. Mine had a drain for any water that got into the area under the cover. In fact, on my boat, I just left the screws out of the cover, put some silicone in the screw holes. That way, I could open the cover in seconds if there was ever a problem with the cables comming off the wheel. The cover on my boat slipped under the pedestal about a quarter inch and fit tight so it never came off when it was not supposed to.
