.....before throwing the breaker on a Sterling ultra pro 40 amp charger....

the charger has an on off control on its panel.... by either pressing set up and up arrow for on ........and pressing set up and down arrow for off....is it a problem to just throw the breaker for that device without turning the charger off first ...or would it be best to always turn it off on its panel first

I have the 50 amp version of this charger. I've used it for two years now leaving it on and only using the supply breaker as an on-off switch. So far so good. I don't know if it recommended or not, I just have been doing it that way.

I'm very happy with the charger, works really well. It keeps the correct charge voltage on the batteries as the house loads go up and down.
Just my experience with it, Bob
