To h41 owners, front head cabinet question.

On the h41, on the front head, there is a cabinet, if you take 4 screw off you have the access to the anchor winch. If you are not smoking cubans in this space, jajaja, is it safe to store light things that you do not use so much like a spare sail ? Or it was left empty for some reason ?

Val I found the same thing just recently when I installed an anchor wash down pump and ran the hose thru that space. The medicine cabinet takes up quite a bit of that space but I did find that water had leaked past the windlass (I believe) into that space at one time. Other than the fact it is a pain to remove the cabinet it might make a good space for storing something. It sure seems that Hunter could have used it best to increase the anchor locker (which I did consider). I also thought maybe a fuel or water bladder would be good in there.

Pretty sure it was left empty for performance reasons. Lots of weight in the bow is not a good thing. re torque the windlass bolts while you have it open.

@Nodak7 interesting setup and the pump doesn't cavitate when in use? I would have thought that there would not be enough positive on the inlet of the wash down pump to satisfy the flow rate

@Nodak7 this is one of the projects on the top of my list, thanks for the information, what is the flow rate of that pump 70 PSI @ 4 GPM? I know where I am I could use the electrical feed for the macerator pump as I am in the Great Lakes.

@Nodak7 did you consider mounting the hose connection in the anchor locker? And why did you not go that way.
I did not want to mount it in the anchor locker because the hose coming out would not allow the cover to close. If I were hosing things down I wanted to be able to close the anchor locker and go forward, if I had too, without the cover getting in my way.

Nodak: Your photo shows the vanity drain line that hunter installed in many boats. It is bilge pump hose and is not certified for below water line use. I live in cold water and once wiggled the connection on the through hull and it snapped off and started to flood the boat, I replaced mine with white sanitation hose that is labeled for below water line use. That stuff is a ticking time bomb. They used it on both vanity sinks.

I mounted mine in the rear locker on the bulkhead. water pick up came from the toilet pickup. I mounted a hose connection under the starboard catbird seat matching the port side water input. power comes from the macerator circuit, as I do not use it in the great lakes. with it accessible it makes winterization easy.
