My old Universal 11 hp 2 cylinder diesel is beginning to smoke and I fear it is on its last legs. Q: what type of engine is compatible for a replacement due to very limited space?

I had the same problem a few years back. Looked at alot of upgrades but found height, length & footprint problems.
I settled on the universal 3M20A (was universal/Kaboda) now sold by Westerbeke (or possible upgrade to this). The footprint was close to my stringer layout. I designed transition plates for the motor mounts & had them fab'd. If you have a catalina MarkII, I still have the drawings for the plates. Otherwise the engine fit well. I wanted the 25XP but I needed to cut out the forward part of the setee area to allow for a longer block. email me at captnron@tampabay.rr.com if you want......
