tips wanted on (original) headsail roller reefing mechanism maintenance

Hi!
can anybody advise me on how to maintenance the (original) headsail roller
reefing mechanism. I've find ours rather heavy to roll...
Could or should I try to take it apart? Can I undo one screw and force some
oil in (and grease afterwards)?

Hello Hielke,
I don't know about original equipment, but who is the maker of the roller furler? Your local rigger should be able to help you out. They usually are about as complicated as a winch. It's important that the upper & lower swivels rotate will , and nothing binds-up.

I found the original roller reefing to be too slow and awkward. We have slab
reefing on the mainsail which is more efficient and faster.
