Peggy, 1984 Hunter 31 Pulled the head today and just brought it home to the workbench to install a kit. Anything I should know having never worked on a marine head? I feel compelled to soak everything in a bleach solution....OK? Regarding all the hosing....though it's probably original, it all looks OK. I have an odor, but I feel that it's probably the leaky head itself. Thanks much......Gary

Nooooo...to bleach!
Bleach is corrosive, damaging to plastics and destructive to rubber. If you feel you need to "deodorize" the toilet pump before rebuilding it, run some undiluted white vinegar through it (which would have been easier before you removed it). As for any rebuilding tips...follow directions. And use the tube of teflon grease supplied in the kit.
