We will be leaving this site, our home and our trusted vessel "Speedy" this comming Sunday. Our 10 year sailing journey starts out by heading east about 2,800 miles until we run into the "right coast". Then we will follow the waterline south until we find a special boat as lovely and lively as "Speedy". When found we'll fit her out, stock up and leave to wherever. No plan, no agenda and no time frame. Just sails full of dreams. This whole adventure started on this site in August 2000 when we started trying to decide what sailboat we wanted to buy. The excitement expressed by all of you about your Hunter boats was the hook that reeled us in. We bought our 95 H26 without having sailed at all in 20 years, and that was only a 1 hour trip. What's the name of that boat? Minnow? We read everything we could find during the winters and pretty much sailed non-stop in the summer. The hook was so deeply set that we sold our home and stored those items dear to us. It is amazing to look at that small storage locker, with all your life's goods within. I thougth that "within this little space is the total summation of our lives". Either we have left a very small footprint on this planet or we are truly under achievers. When we find our boat we will post back to our friends on this site with our e-mail address. 1 of our grandkids is making us a web page and we will faithfully post the good and bad of our journey there on. I do promise that this won't be like the other parties listing their plans and then filling only 1 or 2 posts. We will always fondly remember this site, John of San Francisco that taught me about B&R rigging, Tom in Florida that I must send pictures to as I'm too dumb to do it myself, Crazy Dave who is loonier than me, Phil for his help and this fantastic site, Peggy that has helped more of us than anyone else and Mark, my Aussie friend that I will bend an elbow with! Everyone that has responded and helped us will always be in our thoughts........as we skim across the waves while you're working away. Maybe too late in life we realized there was something other than the job, but, we'll damn sure make up for those mistakes.Ray and Maria from the cabin of "Speedy"
