Time for my 2006 Hunter 25 to go to a new home

Hello everyone, I've not posted here in a while. I've been a long time Hunter 25 owner. I bought my boat new. Recently, my wife and I retired and purchased a Jeanneau 45DS and we are about ready to leave Kemah to head towards Florida and beyond this November. Meanwhile, our Hunter 25 just sits on its trailer at our home on Lake Travis in Texas. I'm trying to get a ballpark idea of the value of my Hunter. The NADA boat site is showing the boat to be valued at about 25K, which I think seems a bit high as the boat cost me about 40k brand new. Any thoughts on this? The boat has most all options, wheel steering, yamaha 8hp with remote controls, jabsco head and holding tank, shore power, trailer, new standing rigging, and new jib.

Sailboats have retained their value in the past few years and I would first clean the boat set up with mast up in very clean condition. Try to sell it at & $26,343. I found in the past to use an oddball price and folks think you are asking a real price which is not the case. Make sure that they are aware of improvements and upkeep. Suggest selling here on this site. Also there is a Texas site that sells sailboats but not sure if it is Sail Texas. Others will chime in.

Since it has a trailer it has value. I sold my 1984 H 25.5 with trailer with new sails for 10k in 2010. Post a photo

Look on Yacht World and see what the going price is. Most won't have trailers, but that is an easy fix by adding a few more "incentive" bucks. But really, price it within reason. Do you need the money or will to let it go. The way I see it, if you got good use out of it then move it on so someone else can get good use out of it.

Boats with trailers and/or boats with dinghy and motor seem to fetch a good price.

There is a 2006 Hunter 25 (called a 250 in the listing??) in the classifieds on this site for $26,995. So not out of the question to sell in the $25k range. Just depends on how quick a sale you need, factoring in winter storage if it does not sell until spring. In the condition you describe should compare well with others. I know the older 260's routinely bring $18-20k, so use that as a guide.

Thanks all, I appreciate the input. Fortunately, I have no storage costs associated with the boat, so I can take my time selling it.

Although the effect may be countered by the fact you're not asking an unusually low price (like $2,538), in my armchair browsing online here in the northeast I've found very specific prices to usually be scam listings.

Just a thought.
