I know better than to spend time looking through sites with marine equipment. It just empties my wallet. However, I ran across a picture of a tiller tamer on the Catalina Direct website. It shows the screw ratchet assembly on top of the tiller handle. On the boat we have, the P.O. put the assembly on the bottom. Is there any case to be made for either location in favor of the other? I know the main problem I have with it mounted on the bottom is that getting to the tightening screw knob is a little akward, but that's about it as far as I am concerned. I currently have the rudder and tiller off the boat and am in a position to move the tamer to the top of the tiller if I want. Just was wondering if it should be, or is it just a matter of preference?

Tiller Tamer

ns06: I mounted my Tiller Tamer on the top side of my 1975 C22 tiller. Easy to put into and out of tiller taming position. But the spring does bump the top of the tiller back by the transom which is a mild inconvenience. RK

I have mine on top, but I dont see why it would make a difference, good luck.

When I had mine on a Hunter 23

it was on the bottom. The PO put it there I never thought to change it, and it never gave me any problems.

Thanks for the response....

I was looking online waiting for answers and I ran across the original install instructions on a PDF file. It says you can install it either on the top or the bottom. So if I want to change the location, I can. The only thing that keeps me from doing it is if I install a tiller extension then the extension clip would need to be on top. Then my question is answered for me.
