Has anyone relaced the stock tiller with a wood unit? If so, where did you get it, how much was it, and how is it working out?

I dug out all my old literature on the wooden tiller I ordered for my H26 and I can't find the price but it was around $70-80 with shipping(in '98). I got it from an outfit in CA. called H&L Marine Woodwork.lnc. 2963 E Harcourt St. Rancho Dominguez,CA 90221 (323)636-1718 (310)638-8746 FAX (323)636-1720 I called and they sent me their literature and wanted me to trace the old pipe tiller so they could make a pattern. I would think after all the H23.5 and H26 orders they've done they wouldn't need a pattern anymore. I made sure they had the exact diameter of old tiller so it would fit in Rudder halves correctly. I also ordered it plain and put some Cetol on it and it looks great. The pivot point on the old pipe was shot anyway so I was glad to replace it.

This is a great outfit. They can sometimes be a little slow on this custom stuff but it is usually worth the wait. I have had custom drawer assemblies made and they are really first rate.

tiller a little shorter
I have a 23.5 and it sails like a dream, so I have CHANGED my tiller, I have cut it off, More than 14". ( you cut from both ends ) Now we have more people room in the cockpit, no one has to move when you tack. Think about it. Dave B.
