I am interested in replacing my tiller with a wheel. Has anyone had experienced moving the traveler from the seat aft of the tiller to the deck above the cabin hatch? Also, has anyone had experienced putting in a wheel system? Which one? Degree of difficulity? Was it worth it: more/less room; easier to steer? Thanks, Ken

Cost benefit...

A friend of mine was looking into swapping out a tiller for a wheel on his boat, and it was going to be a several thousand dollar upgrade. He decided to invest that much money in other upgrades and stick with the tiller. We have a wheel on our boat, and there is a definite mechanical advantage to a wheel vs. a tiller... Joe s/v Charis

Tiller vs wheel

I wrote a lot about this very issue back in the winter-- see the archives as others say. The short form is to contact Edson about the rack-and-pinion set up. Their recommendations with photos suggest a very nice alternative to either pedestal or tiller and I heartily concur. JC
