I'm looking for advice on replacing my 212 aluminum tiller, probably with a wood tiller, but am open to stainless steel. I've heard of a couple of folks who have had their stock tillers fail on them in heavy weather, and I had a couple of spring days where my tiller felt very iffy. So I'm going to upgrade before the fall weather kicks in. Any advice on either a custom or stock solution would be appreciated.

just got a new one

I have heard, especially on this forum of tillers breaking in heavy weather. I just got a replacement which was built custom by HL marine in Ca. Their phone number is 323-636-1718. if you call them they can fax you a sheet with different styles of tillers. You find the one that resembles yours and you have to take certain measurements. They work very quickly and inexpensive. After your receive your new one, you have to drill a hole into it. Make sure you use a drill press because the hole has to be perfectly straight. Keep the old one on board in case of an emergency. Hope this was helpful. Steve H23 - Spray
