Very Simple!
A boat sails better with a tiller. Wheels were only developed for mechanical advantage on ancient, ungainly designs. You get a vastly better feel of what the boat is doing through a tiller. I have thought of using a tiller in place of the wheel and pedestal on my 33, but the cockpit on the 33 in particular is designed around the wheel, and resale would suffer with the wheel gone. Just suffer along with this one and when it's time to move up look for a design with a tiller. They are out there.
