I have a wooden tiller that I believe to be original on my 1995 23.5. There is a fitting on the end that appears to be for an extension. Did Hunter offer one as an option? Is there a plug and play extension?

No Hunter did not offer a tiller extension. That is a good option though. I thought the original tiller was aluminum and that being the case, the wooden tiller was a replacement from the original.

Wow, thanks Dave. I had no idea that the tiller was added. While pretty, I have wondered whether it is actually up to the forces of steering the boat. I feel it is flexing in my hand at times. Anyway, knowing that it is after market, I will definitely get a picture up of the fitting I referred to.

A picture always helps!
Here is a shot of the fitting at the end of my tiller. The fitting appears to be for an extension. I thought I read somewhere that Hunter offered one on the 23.5. I dunno. Anyway, would appreciate some guidance as to which extension would attach to this tiller.

That's the identical tiller on my 1983 25.5 including the receiver for the extension - Methinks original part

Without looking, there was one that was a twist lock extendable tiller extension that I use to provide which I found quite attiquite.
