Anchor at Night

If close to shore I use an anchor and then tie up to a tree or whatever I feel is secure. Obviously, I'm not that comfortable with just the anchor. The other tie is usually in the opposite direction of the anchor.

Anchors away!

Trusting an anchor... I do, Always drop in shallow water 10-20' w/mud bottom for little chance of breaking loose. To make sure the anchor has a good hold, you can try reversing. Haven't lost hold yet!

Trees

I've never anchored overnight. I've always overnighted in lakes, and I typically either tie up between 2 dead standing trees, or between 2 places (trees or rocks) on the shore in a small cove. My local lake is so deep and so narrow that anchoring is not desirable....to get enough scope you'd have to be swinging in a circle wider than the lake. Go to my web page (attached) and click "Sailing" to see my "local" lake.

Anchor or raft up

We spend alot of nights out on the boat and always anchor. I try to set the hook in 10-25 ft of water. Haven't had any trouble with the anchor holding. We also enjoy anchoring with friends. One boat will set their anchor and we'll tie up to them.

bouy I love those bouys

We're half way through our vacation and yes It's nice to have wireless access in the U.S. We couldn't get it to work out of the country. We've anchored, docked, and tied to a bouy. It depends on where we're at and what amenities we need at the time. It's nice to dock up and chat with other sailors once in a while or listen to local music at the dockside restaurant but we do love our anchorages and bouys. Especially the bouys when small craft advisories are in effect. We like a good nights sleep every so often. Have fun out there and we say anchor when you can!

ANCHORING

ANCHORING; When I finish a beautiful and enjoyable day of sailing on Lake Carlyle I enjoy the pleasure of putting " MY GIRL " in her berth safely; cleaning her up; taking care of any matters that came to my attention since or durning the cruise and writing my observation of how " MY GIRL sails, weather conditions and learning curve experiences in my log... Then going home, for a shower a pleasant dinner and a fanastic total body rub and a good night sleep in my own bed..
