I had the the macerator thruhull replaced in May on our 2008 Hunter33. It had been leaking for sometime at the top of the nut but not enough that it couldn't wait for the annual haulout. It turned out that the lugs were corroded to the extent that they were useless, so the thruhull had to be ground/cut out. Not very reassuring, although the other thruhulls are good. Nothing out of the ordinary went through the macerator except detergent and occassionally vinegar. The zincs, although replaced, were in reasonable condition.
I am thinking a stray current from the macerator or elsewhere may be the cause or perhaps the quality of the thruhull for this particular task.
