Thru hulls

Hey, for what it's worth if your boat is stored for any length of time I suggest before you launch that you replace the thru-hull seals without question (depth/knot meter 1970 version, etc.). I recently attempted to launch my 22' after meticulous work and repairs only to be disappointed to find out that it was taking on water. The repair only takes approx. an hour to do and and additional 5 hours to "cure" the sealant, depending on the sealant. Obviously, the following day you could launch but it's very aggravating when you think you've thought of everything only to find that a "trickle of water" will fill your boat over time stored at the marina. (Thankfully, the guys at the marina took good care of me.) I decided to take another week of extra "curing time" for the sealant and upgrade my sail system, new toys, etc. The only good part of this whole situation for me was when my wife laughed hysterically when the marina called to notify us of the situation...she's a happy camper obviously! (We decided to rent a pontoon in order to salvage one day left of the weekend and still enjoyed ourselves.) In short, no problem too small should be overlooked but, don't kick yourself in the head if you can't think of everything.
