Thru hulls

I will be doing the bottom paint on my H37 soon, what needs to be done with the thru hulls? The boat was built in 88. I know of only one thru hull that has been replaced. Do the valves need to be replaced? (Marelon thru hulls) Do the thru hull fittings need to be replaced or rebedded? Do I need to just spray the thru hulls with a lubricant? Thanks Mtreid KW Fl

Grease and exercise

When I was in the yard this summer they recommended a spray on white grease and operating the through hulls. I had one stuck bronze through hull ball valve that I wanted to replace under the Galley Sink. I tried all of the wrenches in my tool box and a new one from the hardware store. The only tool that would get to it with enough torque would be a properly sized socket. I couldn't rent, borrow or purchase a big enough socket so I worked on it for a while to get it unstuck and operational again. If you'r replacing one start the tool search with an industrial supply to get big enough long socket with extension and breaker bar to remove and replace it.
