Using the wrong material is the problem, not the location of the purchase. I think HD is being unfairly bashed in this article. Nothing in HD has the words Marine on it. It would be different if it said For Marine Use, but it doesn't.
The earlier owner that deliberately installed a valve he knew to be wrong has total ownership for this failure. Sadly his responsibility would have been ziltch when the boat sank had not the current owner prevented this.Now for the reason a plumber won't use Home Depot fittings. It is simply too far over my head for me to understand. If he should offer additional information to explain his thinking then I would have clarity and could agree or disagree.Without explaination his statement is simply horse crap and slanderous.Ray
Actually I was in Home depot and in the hardware section they have some clasps , bolts , etc, which have Marine Use tagged on them, but thats about it,,
