Can anyone tell what Hunter installed for the Ball valves for the thru hulls? Were they bronze or brass bodies

They had BETTER be bronze. But given 'new Hunter' (post-1982), it's anyone's guess.
About a year or 2 after I got my new h326, there was a recall of valves by Hunter. They sent me one lot of bronze valves and paid for the replacement work as well. That was circa 2003/2004.
I don't know whether they were bronze or brass....what I do know is that electrolytic erosion had removed any evidence of any ball in any valve!! The boat had been very badly neglected and all the valves were seized open.....not that closing them would have done any good!

My 1978 H-27 and 1983 H-30 both came with gate valves. Almost all of them were frozen either open or closed. On of the first things that I did on both boats was replace the gate valves with marine rated ball valves. In most instances the thru hulls and baking plates were in great shape but I did have to re-seat some and had to replace ore or 2 thru hulls and a backing plate. Once replaced I closed them when I left the and greased and exercised them regularly.
If you have gate valves ----replace them asap.

Normally there is a Manufacture part# on the body or handle. I found mine, looked on web, and found they were bronze.

Brass is OK if protected by a zinc anode in the water source passing through the valve.

PS: In a pinch, I had to quickly replace a ball valve on a Sunday, with brass. Guess who was open?
I keep a set of jumper cables aboard, so I clamped one end to the brass valve and the other end to the engine (protected by my shaft zinc)
