thru-hull

Had to clean out the fresh water strainer so I closed the seacock, removed the strainer and water continued to trickle in through the valve. The boat is 20 yrs. old my guess that the valve is worn. The boat is a C30 1987. Engine is a Universal 25XP. Any idea as to the size of the thru-hull and where to get one. Thanks for any info.

thru-hull?

more than likely, the problem is probably not the thru hull, but the seacock. if the water was leaking from the open end of the seacock, it should be replaced. if the water was leaking in around the base of the thru hull where it joins the interior hull, haul it right away and replace it.older catalinas, like my '77 had gate valves. if you still have them, they should be replaced even if they aren't leaking as they are a potential problem.
