What is the minimum diameter for a toilet thru hull direct discharge ? small boat 28 feet, but i do not think thats relevant

Nominal hose size is 1.5 inch. Fittings match. Have a look at the specs for hour boat's head -- those measurements dictate the size hose and fittings coming and 'going' (pun alert....)

If it is a direct overboard discharge then 1.5" is correct. However, direct-overboard discharge is only legal outside a 3 mile limit. Most toilets connect to a holding tank and then there is a maserator pump to empty the holding tank overboard. The maserator pumps have a grinding device much like a garbage disposal that makes solids into a fine slush that will run through a 1" thru-hull easily.
