Well, that depends........ there are many reasons that a previous owner might have installed a thru-hull...... perhaps to drain soemthing or to serve as the intake for some kind of pump. The DS is too small to have an installed head, so we can rule that out. Not likely to have an installed sink that needs draining and I can't see having a wash-down pump setup (but maybe someone else would?).

where on the bottom is this thru-hull? That might help.

The only thru-hull on hte bottom of a DS I would be the screw-in drainplug just aft of the CB trunk. On the DS II or DS III there was a cockpit drain/bailer located on-center, and about 6" forward of the transom. This should look like a scoop that faces aft, and it should have some form of plug to insert from inside the cockpit to stop water from flowing back in (the little plastic ball in there doesn't always work to prevent backflow!) Just above the bottom of the transom (may or may not be located off-center) there is a screw-in drainplug to drain any water out of the inside of the hull (between hull and deck), and then there is a standard 1" brass tube thru the transon about 1n inch or so above the lower gudgeon, that should have a standard 1" rubber drain plug to close it.
