Thru hull hardware for engine remote cables?

I installed a new Honda 4 stroke 8HP engine onto my Hunter 23 for this season. Lake Michigan was overwhelming the little 5HP Nissan last season on some days when the waves were over 4 ft. I primarly did the switch because I got the new engine cheap from a friend and modified it into a long shaft and since the tiller handle was broke off the engine, I bought a remote throttle/shift lever on Ebay and installed it on the boat.

The only issue is WHERE to run the remote cables??? Right now they are just going over the transom into the engine. The two cables are really in the way though when standing at the tiller. I would like to just put them through the transom. Does anybody have any suggestions for what method would be best? I've been investigating thru hull hardware but I haven't found anything that seems particularly suited for this. Most of the stuff online seems to be designed for hoses, like the gas line. One issue is that the remote cables are bigger on the ends so I can't get a thru hull exactly the same diameter as the remote cables or I won't be able to get them inside. I've seen some boats transom have a little..... dog house piece of hardware, for lack of a better term, where all the engine cables and hoses run through, would something like that work, and if so, what the heck are they called so I can find one!?

For reference, here's the new engine and mount right after I installed. I would like to put the throttle and shift cables thru the transom on the port side up near the top.

I'd probably just drill holes where you want the mount to attach. Drill large enough for appropriate sized rubber grommets and seal with 4200. JMO. Good luck.

On the 26.5, they came with what looks to be a car's shifter boot, to keep the weather out.

Tough one. Where are the control handles mounted, and how high (or low) do you want the through-hull?

The obvious need is to ensure water doesn't get between the transom and rear wall of the cockpit, and thus into your bilge. I'd run the hole through as high as is reasonable, to keep splash and waves away from it. Maybe get a piece of plumbing PVC large enough to handle the cable connectors, and fiberglass it in place, using the glass to waterproof?

If by 'dog house' you mean those stainless steel hoods that cover holes like where the battery charging line penetrates, I doubt if that alone would work for a big hole. Water would splash up from below, and without a tube of some sort to seal water from getting behind the transom, would end up in bilge (lazarette). With such a tube, I wouldn't worry too much about keeping all water from entering hole, as if properly sealed it'd just end up inside cockpit.
