I have a 1994 H26, I'm 2nd owner. Just realized there are no ball vls on my thru hull fittings, just a hose clamped on them ;-(( Pretty sure that's the way it came from the factory. Has anyone installed vls on the fittings? If so, any info would be appreciated. FYI..the fittings themselves seem to be in good shape. Not real interested in relacing them unless installation of a marelon type combo fitting is inexpensive and easy. I'm looking for a quick and easy fix that will make the boat safer to sail. Thanks !!

Yes, but shouldn't matter

My understanding is they all should have vlvs. Heel of the boat, increased draft could easily put them below waterline (STBD sink discharge is only about 5-6 inches above waterline). I thought ABYC standards require them regardless. Thanks for response !

Got me thinking...

Consider if the boat takes on enough water to put the through hulls under, then these become potential points of water entry that could exacerbate an already difficult situation. Fair winds, Tom

Not a problem

I have sailed my H-26 for several years. The through hulls have been immersed many times, and there has never been a problem with water entry. I can hear the water gurgling when the boat is heeled. Even with 30 degrees of heel and the rail nearly under, there is no water entry through the through hulls. I wouldn't worry about this! Don
