Through hull fittings

I am changing all the gatevalves with ball style stops. Am I to
understand that NPT fittings will fit on these through hull
fittings? The gate valves that I have taken off came off
effortlesssly. They seemed to have ben serviced well in their life.

Hi Alan, I still have some of the old gate valves from V2933. I
will try and stop by West Marine this weekend and do a fit check to
their thru-hulls. I beleive that they will work. However, you will
have trouble finding a ball valve to fit the small engine cooling and
sink intake thru-hulls. I was not able to find any. I ended up
filling the sink intake, since I didn't plan to use it, and enlarging
the engine cooling hole to 3/4" and installing new thru-hull.

Hello Chris

I took off all the small diameter gate valves. Great. I went home to
get my larger pipe wrench. A little tug on the galley sink gate
valve and the through hull broke off just below the nut. So I think
I will change all them now. Gate valves, through hulls etc...

I took out the injectors. Maybe a little carbon it says in the
manual. Small pipe wrench, srewdiver and cold chisel later I got
them out. A liitle worse for abuse but otherwise in good condition.
The engine has not been started in six years. It was suggested to
service the injectors first.

We will see next week if it goes.

Thanks for your help

Same thing happened to me except with engine cooling. Applied just a small bit of torque with the wrench and ...snap...right below the nut. That was my easiest through hull to remove, I poked it right out. That's another reason I decided to go bigger (and the fact that I couldn't find smaller so had no choice :).

Good luck with the engine.
