I have a 1982 28' O'day which has a through bulkhead Kempax 1 AD Liter diaphram bilge pump by the helm station. This pumps diaphram is cracked and the punp no longer works. I cannot find a repair kit for this pump in fact I cannot find the manufacturer in my search of the internet. Can anyone tell me if this pump is still manufactured, is there a repair kit for it and where would I get it, is there a kit for the more popular pumps that would work, or is there a specific pump replacement that works well for a 28' O'day with a wheel helm. I can be reached via email at j8horton@comcast.net. Jeff Horton

Solution

Install an electric bilge pump with a float switch and then you never have to worry about it. I did that on my 27 several years ago. It's easy & cheap.

where to seat bilge pump?

where should the auto bilge pump/switch be placed in a 27'? How is it wired in a two battery situation? Can I keep the hand pump by using a tee or "Y" valve? Thanks Steve

Coast Guard Requirements

The Coast Guard requires a maual source to remove water from your bilge. I have an electric bilge pump, but what happens if you loose electricity. Being a Vessel Safety Examiner I would suggest that you reconsider your position
