Throttle Vibration Reduces Speed

I have a 88 Legend 37. I experience a gradual reduction in speed (RPM's) from about 3,000 RPMs once I take my hand off the throttle. Since my pedestal came from Edson I called them and their advice was to put a wire clamp on the cable close to the engine and once I clamped down on the clamp it would put resistance on the cable eliminating the wondering. I did that and was able to eliminate the wondering but found that once I put the resistance on the cable the idle speed increase to about 1000 to 1050 RPMs. I have just recently replace the throttle cable and adjusted the clevis and the end that attaches to the engine as far as I dare. Is there someother way of adjusting the cable tension without the cable clamp? does anyone have an idea how I can adjust the idle to a lower RPM to about 800 RPM?

Cable Clamp

Had same problem with our 340. Re-located the cable stop clamp from the engine to the throttle end of the cable & now works fine.
