I OWN A 1994 29.5. THE THROTTLE LOCATION ON THE CONSOLE APPROX 1 FOOT ABOVE DECK MAKES IT AWKWARD TO HANDLE SPEED AND DIRECTION WHILE DOCKING DUE TO BENDING OVER AND REACHING THROUGH HELM. HAS ANYONE COME UP WITH A SIMPLE FIX ? OR EVEN A NOT SO SIMPLE FIX.

Bicycle Pedals

I have not actually done this but saw it on a boat in our marina. If the throttle and gear shift levers are different lengths, you can install a folding bicycle pedal to the end of the levers. You can control both of the levers with your feet that way. Sounds difficult to me, but it's an idea.

It just so happens. . .

I am currently in the process of designing a "pod" to contain the throttle and remove it from the lower portion of the console. The "pod" will still attach to the console but will center on the right side of my U-shaped stabilizer bar and underneath the upper-right T portion of the console . The cables will run through stainless tubing. I am creating a prototype with 3/8 plywood but will probably use starboard as the final product. I will leave the current hole in the console if this doesn't work and/or look good and have it sealed later. My first mate refuses to dock with the current configuration and I have had too may close calls. It sounds like I am just a bit ahead of you on this problem.
