After a general lubrication of the mechanisms in my Edson Pedestal, I noticed that my throttle wants to slowly close on its own. Is anyone aware if a friction adjustment is available in the Edson set-up?

Doug, My edson doesn't.

I had the same problem, but at full throttle. Vibration would back the throttle down. My friction adjustment is on the engine. I have had my edson a part many times and have not seen one. Not to say yours doesn't. If you dont find one on your engine, try www.edsonmarine.com. Ted

Maybe

Take off the binacle and look down to see where the trottle linkage passes through and see if there is a tensioning screw in the housing. Otherwise, go to Edson. They sell a shaped cable clamp that goes on your cable and adds some drag without crushing it as a U-clamp might. Good luck; common issue. Rick D.

Should be an adj screw inside

My 285 had this problem last year, so I took the compass off and there is an adj screw. Problem was, the plastic housing the screw tensioned against was cracked so it did not do much good. Went to Home Depot, found a ground clamp in the electrical section, like you find holding the gnd wire from your cable at home clamping on to a gnd rod. put this onto the throttle lever shaft, with a bolt and handle that goes thru a hole I drilled in the housing. Works very well, I almost never adj it,but now it is easy to do from the outside.

clamp

If you follow your throttle line below decks you may come across a small clamp on the line. Mine is located in the stbd lazerette that is the function of this clamp seems an odd way to do it to me but thats what it is there for. jim
