The throttel lever on the engine would not move on my H 29.5 and when I disconnect the cable from it the cable itself moves fine. Also, the lever on the pedestol moves very loosely. The RPM runs high until I pull back the throttel lever on the engine. Any idea how I could fix this? Has anyone ran in to this problem?

Yes, Steve. I Have.

This has happened to me twice. The cable connects to the throttle lever on the engine (duh!) and that is the lever that binds. You will notice that it probably has rust on it. On my engine it's located just beneath the the heat exchanger, so if anything drips then KER-PLOP! right on the lever. Here's the permanent remedy. Liberally spray the lever with penetrating oil to break down the rust (I like a product called "PB"). It needs to sit and work for about two hours. When it gets loose, then spray it again, liberally, with White Lithium grease spray. That's the stuff car dealers use on hinges, etc. It should provide a nice lubricant and moisture barrier. When you lay it up for the season, do it again. We are getting ready to lay up for the season back here in Rhode Island. Good Luck. Let us know how you make out.

My throttle lever also stuck...just when I was in reverse and in the slip! Happily, putting it in neutral saved the day. The cause was saltwater crystals, or say corrosion, on the lever, caused by minor drips from the hose above it. No water was ever noticed. Solution was to lubricate it and tighten the hose clamp. Paul's prescription would be just about perfect
