I have a problem with the pedastal mounted throtle control on my recently purchased 1985 Hunter 31 equipped with a Yanmar diesel auxiliary engine. When the throtle lever is pushed forward to feed more fuel, it does not stay forward without being held and instead returns to the upright "slow" position. I don't believe that this can be normal. Any ideas out there of how to correct this problem? Thanks!

This is a simple fix. Go to your local hardware

store and buy a U shaped cable restraint. It has tightening bolts to apply a little pressure to the cable to keep it from slipping. You can install it down near the engine. It really works!

Here is the part!

This device does not damage the cable and can be set to apply the proper tension to correct your problem. There is also a set screw under the compass that may help your problem too. This set screw usually only works for a short period of time and then needs to be adjusted again.
