My get throttle cable is barely moving. I am only able to get a quarter power. Any suggestions? Can I replace it myself or should I get the yard involved. My Hunter 28.5 has a Yanmar 2GM20f engine with a newly rebuilt injector.

You can do this yourself. I would contact Hunter Marine and ask them for the correct cable length. You may be able to purchase the cable from the HOW store.

The only tricky part is getting the screw loose on the forward side of the pedestal to get the housing out.

Have you considered removing the cable from the housing to see if that can be cleaned and lubed?

Manually throtle the engine to make sure it revs OK and to insure that it is indeed the cable causing the problem.

The housing and the cable are seperate. You can disconnect the cable (not the housing) at the engine and then disconnect it from the throttle handle. This should allow it to be slid out.

You can then pull it out. It can be cleaned with some emory paper. Lube it with graphite or some other recommended lube and reverse the process.

I think the cable is frozen. It wont come out. My Merriman pedistal will not come apart easily. Have you ever heard of relocating the throttle lever?
