would i need to disconnect the cable first?Manually throtle the engine to make sure it revs OK and to insure that it is indeed the cable causing the problem.
no how would i do that?You can do this yourself. I would contact Hunter Marine and ask them for the correct cable length. You may be able to purchase the cable from the HOW store.
The only tricky part is getting the screw loose on the forward side of the pedestal to get the housing out.
Have you considered removing the cable from the housing to see if that can be cleaned and lubed?
