1) Should I mount a Horn or just have a $20 airhorn for when I need it? If mounting a horn, what wiring did you tap in to and what horn is really nice to have?

2) My Auto-Pilot (Raymarine ST4000+ WP) has a feature for auto tack. Seems like a nice option when single handling and I would like it to work. Manual says to push down the -1 and -10 or +1 and +10 and the factory settings will take you 90 degrees to port or starboard.

Trouble is when I push either combination the boat does a 360 degree hard turn clockwise! What is up with that?

3) Is there a wireless remote control that operates these auto-pilots? It would be very nice to be able to hit the +10 and adjust course with a remote. (No flaming please). :D

BTW what an amazing resourse this site is ... Thank You All!

1. I don't know anyone with a boat in our size range who has an electric powered horn. The kind that fits in any drink holder is always handy (wonder why?)

2. the mysteries of autopilot maladies always baffles me. For what it's worth, that feature never seemed very useful to me.

3.not that I know of. If you find one, make sure it floats

As Don said an air horn works fine..

If it has the gray ST-60 control head with seatalk you should be able to change this in either the user set up or the installers set up screens. Raymarine has the manuals on-line if you don't have it.

Yes, there are two models for Raymairne Seatalk based autopilots. The S-100 and the SmartController. A wireless receiver simply plugs into the Sea Talk buss and you then have a wireless remote. We have the S-100 and if I were to do it over again I'd go with the SmartController.....
