Hello everyone, new member and sailboat owner here. I have had a ton of boats in my life, but this is the first sailboat. Not much wind here, but once I learn the boat we will head down river toward Mobile, Alabama. The boat was purchased from Miss. and survived Katrina undamaged. It was moored inland four miles from Long Beach tied off to a 36 foot trawler. It broke loose and ended up high and dry sitting upright balanced on the keel. We just purchased a 25 O'Day with a 8 hp Reanult inboard. In its life from 1978 it has had many travels. Once to the Virgin Islands, several to the Keys and I understand it has even been to Vancouver. Anyway below is my question. It is on the hard and I wish to repack the 'stuffing box'. It drips too much and from what I have learned it should be one to two drops per minute? I went to West Marine to order the dripless packing kit, but I need to know the diameter packing that is used with it. I am sure this has been addressed before and will be happy to go to that thread. Thanks for any assistance with this.Roger Sr.
