Catalina 310 Staten Island
A couple of weeks ago, I viewed the 1999 remake of the Thomas Crown Affair on DVD. The sailing scene where the protagonist deliberately capsized an expensive racing catamaran was awesome. It was shot in the waters in and around New York City, starting in the Harbor and ending off Staten Island. Just a few questions. Shortly before the capsize, a lighthouse is seen briefly. It looks like the Old Orchid Shoal light off Staten Island which was destroyed in Hurricane Sandy. Does anyone know for sure? Also which model boats were used? Finally, at the beginning of the scene, the twin towers of the WTC were seen in the background. Does anyone know if this was the last major motion picture where the actual towers were seen?

I do not remember anything of the movie other than Rene Russo and being thankful they did not play the stupid music from the original movie in the same sequence.

Just in case you can't find your DVD (or player). Thomas Crown Sailing Scene

And, I also liked this one recently; Tenet Sailing Scene. It's a lacking a little in the continuity department, but then... the entire movie plays with "time inversion", so I'll cut them a little slack with the editing. Maybe this is just a lateral displacement.
