While informative and VERY helpful, has to be the slowest performing website I've ever encountered.

Is it just me? I can't believe that's the case.

I'm broadband, I've tried several browsers, still dog slow.

I know it's free... but...

Anyone have any tips?

Thanks in advance,

Jim

No problem here! Certain times, as when the kids all get off school and run to the computer, the site slows. I see this as our provider's server trouble..

No problem here either.

Roadrunner is our ISP. Hunterowners is as fast as any other website for us.

Email the site - they are always very helpful, and will be most interested in solving your issue.

Lightning fast here

I have AT&T DSL and an in-home wireless router...lightning fast on both computers in all locations.

So the problem seems to be at your end...take David's advice and email Phil Herring....he'll help you solve it.

Run a traceroute to sbo.sailboatowners.com... I'll bet you'll find some hop between you and us with times over 200 ms, or lost data. If you have a laptop, try it from some different locations.

There are different speeds with broadband, DSL, etc. I bet if you called your provider there are different rates for different speeds. Also, sometimes an Internet connection can be like a party line where the more people on line, the slower it runs. That is why sometimes at different times of the day the speed might be better (like 3 a.m.). If you are picking it up via wi fi or a wireless router in your home, etc. there might be some interference depending on your location in regard to the router.

This site and this page is my 'home page". It is very fast. Try this speedtest site and see what you get. If the test is fast this site should be as fast. Best of Luck.

Hey Phil,

This is an ongoing problem with your website in all it's iterations (even trying to buy something) and I don't get it.

I've already done a trace (nothing slower than 54ms). I've tried other puters in my home (I am a bit of a geek you see) hardwired and wireless.

I'm consistently at about 16meg down and 1meg up.

I'm going to be at a friend's in a few days so will give it a shot from there with my laptop.

Thanks for the replies everyone. At least I know now that it's ME.

To quote Eyore: "Oh bother". I finally find a GREAT set of forums for my Hunter 30(C) and what do I do? Slow d o w n...

sigh.

It's you, not the site. There are faster sites, but speed of response on this one is not a problem at all.

I have never had a problem from the Nation's Capital and I have all kinds of agencies checking my stuff:).

Hey Jim, if you're a geek there's a good chance we'll get this resolved! ;)

One other thing to check: the site has a lot of small images so make sure that you're browser will cache data. That helps, especially on the main home page.

it may be your firewall

I use Vipre Antivirus/firewall, and I get several errors when loading pages.
Of course I've got 64bit Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8  but this also shows up in Windows XP.

Mostly if you have sites blocked, there will be delays loading the page as some of these requests fail. Thats the price you pay to block advertising sites, and Google Analytics. Try blocking facebook sometime and see how that affects major websites....

So I put up with the delays, it doesn't affect my thorough enjoyment of this site ( and I don't block any part of the site or the store, just the external ad servers ).

(for reference, when I load the Cherubini forum page I get these scripting errors. I only think the last one bears investigation)
