In the May 2009 issue of This Old Boat magazine, there was a review article on the ODay 26 (the boat I own). Anyone know how I can get a look at the article?
Thanks.

If no one here has a copy to scan, GOB sells back issues. Check out their website.

Do the honest thing.

Send me your email and I'll scan it for you.
Cheers,
George.
C Adams,

Good Old Boat Magazine is a good magazine. They have to pay their staff and writers to write articles. Do the right thing and order a back copy of the magazine. And you might find that a subscription is interesting. I have one and have had one since 2001.

In case you have not noticed, I can be aserbic and forceful at times. I have had direct communications with the Editors of that magazine.

When you send them a check, tell Karen that I told you to.

Any article from them is worth a few shekels. Go ahead.

Bye the way, several years ago they had a good article about the O'Day 25. In case you have not noticed, the 26 was an updated 25 correcting a few things that improved the boat.

For example a big problem with the 25 is that the original rudder was a few inches deeper than the keel. The 26 corrected that issue, making both the draft. However, if you load the boat aft heavy, you can still ground the rudder and not the keel which could cause damage.

Is it illegal to scan and share an article? Just to share with one person? For Free?

I agree about the magazine though. It is great and worth the ( is it 36?) bucks a year, which is kind of high for a magazine, but I guess since it is a specialty, and they don't have the big adds. even at that rate you still get a lot for the money.

And we ex-conservatives are not the ones ripping stuff off (ed will know what i mean, I left the conservative fold because i felt tax and spend was not as bad as borrow and spend. It seems that is the only two options washington gives)

Don't let ed make you mad, he is a lovable old cuss who makes a few good points from time to time!

Keith asked, " Is it illegal to scan and share an article? Just to share with one person? For Free?"

It is legal to make a copy for your personal use. Once you share it, it infringes on copywrite.

Disregarding others property rights is your new leanings?

That voice on your left shoulder has won over the right way voice. That is why you so hated the Vince Lomardi comment on 'the right way'.

I didn't hate it!. I was just having fun. I don't take life outside the E. D. too seriously. It is my way of coping.

If you could emailme a copy of the article I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

Red240z,

Please read all emails in thread. Big discussion on fact that article is copywrighted and for those who copy and post such article to avoid sending a few shekels to Good Old Boat Magazine are in violation of U. S. and International Copy write laws and treaties.

Subscribe to the magazine so that it stays in business and can pay its writers. Karen Larsen is editor of the magazine (karen@goodoldboat.com). Send her an email asking about what I posted.

Ask our host on this forum, Captain Herring, about this and if he could get in trouble facilitating such behavior.

Also, several years ago, Good Old Boats Magazine had an article about the O'Day 25. Imagine that!

Ed K, what issue of Good Old Boat had that O'DAY 25 article? I might want to either order that back-issue (if I don't have it) or possibly the CD-ROM version of that particular year's issues.

I have the issue that had a story all about George O'DAY, the one about the 272, and of course the one about the 26. The back-issue price is well worth it considering all that is in the magazine every issue!

I just got my copy of the May/June 2009 Good Old Boat. Great magazine and great article on the Oday 26.

For the record, I agree with the comments on honoring copyrights, and keeping businesses in business. My original question was intended to find out how and whether Good Old Boat articles were somehow archived for retrieval on the web. I did not find anything like that on the Good Old Boat site, and don't think they do it.

For anyone who hasn't read it, I recommend a subscription to Good Old Boat. It focuses on the sailboats that many of us own, rather than the newest mega-yachts.

Cheers,
Craig
