This is what the installation of my propane locker in the cockpit looks like. This is also what the deck cutout looks like. You can see the pink foam sandwiched between the two layers of fiberglass. I found the same foam when I drilled near the mast and near the main cabin hatch...

I see it !

Hi Olivier, But I still can't believe it. Your core looks like foam! Are you sure a previous owner didn't redo the decks at one point? Like I have said before, this is a good installation for the propane and is one of the least obstructive possible. However, pray that the plastic vat never develops a leak because it will all go into the engine room and ... By the way, my good news is that !!!! I have ordered all my ports from New Found Metals: 8 X 316 Stainless Steel 5X12 and 4 X 316 Stainless Steel 8X10 for the main cabin. All of them fully stocked with screens, holders and teak frames. I also ordered the same bronze deadligths as you from the A B industries since NFM did not have deadlights yet in their product line. I should be getting some of the ports in about a week and a half. The 5X12's are a little backordered but the rest is ok. It will be good to compare our installations. I will take pictures (when I finally get around to buying a digital camera ;-) ) and post them on the web for you. Francois S/V Starshine III

great solution

Glad I went nosin' around the o'day website. I've recently acquired an o'day 37 that seems to have been used as a pretty big daysailer. No holding tanks, no AC, etc. It's been an interesting time prioritizing projects. Doing something with the original propane tank storage is on the list. The picture is worth a thousand words. Carl Tripp did a survey on my 37 and just about guarenteed that some delamination back there was due to the tank's base and related holes.
